Good Eats Advisory

While in Jamaica in Negril I would breakfast at Mamma D's kitchen for her Ackee & Codfish. According to her as well as my friend Vernon of Vernons Jerk sauce Ackee was prohibitively expensive, and it's price was a burden on the locals for whom it had been a staple.

Is this still so to your knowlege. On a more selfish note, is ackee available in the Albany area? Both of my sources led me to believe that Ackee was grown only in Jamaica. Due to this fact, a stormy year in Jamaica would adversely affect the sale price of Ackee.

This email will prompt me to research Ackee a bit on the web, if it exists there. For that matter, we
all love Ackee but what are it's nutritional qualities?
